Patriot Circle Interrupted By Construction

Beginning Thursday, March 6, the northeast side of Patriot Circle will be closed between Lots E and G. Traffic, including CUE buses and George Mason University shuttles, will be directed onto a new spur road leading to University Drive. Those continuing east along the circle will take a left on George Mason Boulevard and a right on Patriot Circle.

    In a townhall meeting sponsored by Student Government Monday night, Mason dining and housing administrators met with students to explain some of the new initiatives and developments arriving at Mason in the next few years.

    Tornado and Flood Watch Issued for Fairfax, Va.

    A tornado watch has been issued by the National Weather Service and will remain in effect until 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

    Additionally, a flood watch will be in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.

    Showers and scattered thunderstorms are forecasted. Strong winds are also expected and may cause damage.

    Merten Initiates Provost Review Panel

    Not Your Average Pro-Life Forum

    Pro-life advocates related experiences and gave testimony about the effects of abortion in society on March 3 in the JC Cinema. “Not Your Average Pro-Life Forum” was sponsored by Students for Life, College Republicans, Catholic Campus Ministries, Israel on Campus, and Iota Phi Beta.

    A panel of six speakers comprised the evening’s program. Each speaker related his or her personal position on the issue of abortion before participating in a Q & A forum with the audience.

With a potential recession looming on the horizon, students can expect low pay or unemployment, higher food and gas prices, and credit scores suffering from a lack of income to pay off student loans.

    Journalist Rob Curley To Discuss Online Journalism

    On March 4, George Mason University will continue its efforts to stay abreast with emerging media technologies by hosting guest speaker Rob Curley, vice president of New Media at Washington Post-Newsweek Interactive.

    Tuesday’s event, the fourth of seven in the Communication Department’s spring 2008 New Media Series, will be held at 3 p.m. in SUB II, Rooms 3 and 4.

    Past speakers include professionals from Gannett, USA Today and Congressional Quarterly.

    Groups Hosts Series of Holocaust Events

    Throughout history, visual and verbal storytelling has helped unite communities, perpetuate myth and in many cases, preserve history. In late March, George Mason University will hold a two-night event intended to explore these topics and expose the current generation to the atrocities and triumphs surrounding the Holocaust.

    According to recent advertising on Facebook, the student organization Students for Life will hold a discussion forum today at 7 p.m. in the Johnson Center Cinema. The forum titled, “Not Your Average Pro-Life Forum,” will feature different student organizations that offer opposing viewpoints.
