Students Allege Inappropriate Police Behavior

One of the two George Mason University students who agreed to an alternative punishment for attempting to steal textbooks is considering legal action against the school and Mason’s police for allegedly handling the situation inappropriately.

Islamic Awareness Week Ends With Some Heroes

The Muslim Student Association concluded Islam Awareness Week yesterday evening with an event called "Heroes," which focused on pointing out traits of a few Islam scholars.
Shaykh Safi Khan was the guest speaker who pointed out the traits of the scholars, whom he referred to as “pious predecessors” of the Islam faith.
Child Soldiers Topic of Film and Discussion

Child soldiers in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo were the topic of the evening of Wed., Feb. 27. Over 35 people gathered in Dewberry Hall South for a short film and discussion on this issue in an event sponsored by Uganda Help and the George Mason University branch of Amnesty International.

Recent Robinson Professor Passes Away

According to this morning's Mason Gazette, Egon Verheyen, 72, died of cancer this past Monday. He was a retired Robinson Professor of Humanities at Mason.

Levar Stoney Named Executive Director of Va. Dems

Recently, Levar Stoney acquired a title that not too many people have during their twenties: executive director of a political campaign.
The 2004 James Madison University graduate became executive director of the Virginia Democratic Party on Feb.11, making him the first African-American to occupy the position in the state’s history.
