Clinton is a 'Monster.' This Isn’t Fun Anymore

We entered into this contest riding high on a Wave of Change. Whatever the outcome, it was going to be something other than Bush. Shining white teeth opened to wildly spew promises out of these hopeful nominees’ mouths, out of our television sets, and we relished it being covered in their guarantees and saliva. We damn well deserved to feel good about politics again.
Research Conference Presents Feminist Findings

Student researchers gathered at the first annual Gender Research Conference to present feminist findings on modern issues in dating, gender roles in on-campus organizations and the difficulties of international students at Mason, among other topics. The conference was held in Mason Hall Thursday, May 1.
All of the panelists’ findings were on different specific topics, but they came together to paint an interesting picture of the split between women as relationship-focused or career-focused.
Students Present the 'Reality' of Mason Parking

Students complain that Mason parking sucks, but what they should be saying is "I'm lazy." Mason has enough parking to accommodate everyone's parking needs, but the majority of parking is located at least a 10 minute walk away from the center of campus, according to Josh Cantor, director of Parking and Transportation Services.
"Students come to my office and complain to me everyday about how they can't find a parking spot," said Cantor, "and I point to the map of campus and inform them that there is parking and where it is available. Unfortunately it is just not convenient enough to meet their desired needs."
911 Outage Expected for Saturday

Mason's 911 service will go down for a few minutes at 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, according to a Mason Alert sent out at 8:30 a.m. today. If you experience a campus emergency during that brief period, dial 703/503-9951.
This telephone outage will affect non-emergency calls to Mason police as well.

Mason to House Faculty and Staff

George Mason University Facilities staff discussed plans for faculty and staff housing in meetings Monday and Tuesday. Thomas Calhoun, vice president of facilities at Mason, presented an outline of the project to 25 people over the two meetings.

Park Residents Charged for Damaged Dryers

Due to vandalism to clothes dryers, students will be individually charged $1.12 to their accounts, according to a recent e-mail sent out by Erin Brandt, a resident director to dorm residents in Presidents Park last Wednesday. The estimation of the damage is $1,300 and because no one took responsibility for the crime, the entire community involved will have to pay a fine.
Patriot Circle to Turn into 'The Oval'

Plans are underway for new developments to expand Patriot Circle into "The Oval," according to recent construction plans featured on George Mason University’s Facilities Web site. New additions include at least one university gateway, retail and convenience stores as well as innovative landscaping.

George Mason University President Alan Merten has taken the first step in making sure that the green movement will continue at Mason for years to come. Merten recently signed the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment, which pledges Mason’s commitment to sustainability.
