Seniors Give Back to Help Future
By Broadside News Editor Asma Chaudhary
A recent campaign from the Office of Annual Giving is encouraging this year’s graduates to give a small donation back to the university. With a slogan geared towards all students, the organization is known for “making a difference, one student at a time.”
The initiative, which will request seniors to donate $20.08 in order to fund scholarships for future Mason students, will allow the recent graduates to leave a lasting mark at the university.
The fundraiser, also known as the Senior Scholarship Initiative, will also allow Class of 2008 contributors to have their name engraved on a plaque, which will be on display in a public area somewhere on the Fairfax Campus. Organizers are requesting that donations be made before the April 30 deadline.
According to a recent e-mail sent out by the Office of Annual Giving, the SSI last year generated more than $3,000 in funds. This year, the organization is hopeful that 200 seniors will make the donation in order to go beyond the previous amount.
