Get Your Tires Inflated and Repaired Free On Campus
By Connect Mason News Director Elizabeth Stern
Free Tire Inflation Day will take place Wednesday, April 16 from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. on GMU's Fairfax campus in front of Research I, courtesy of TireVan.
TireVan technicians will be available to check your tires for air pressure, tread wear and will even patch a tire at no cost if they find a nail in it.
Support GMU's efforts to become a green campus by participating in this event. Underinflated tires can result in the loss of 8-10 percent of your gas mileage. Additionally, underinflated tires can cause blowouts and other potentially dangerous problems.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that more than 70 deaths per year are due to crashes caused by an underinflated tire.
NHTSA also found that 27 percent of cars and 32 percent of vans, pickups and sport utility vehicles had at least one tire that was underinflated. Eight percent of light trucks and three percent of cars had all four tires underinflated.
Make sure that you're protected by stopping by to have your tires checked.
