By Connect2Mason Breaking News Director Matt Todd
According to Yahoo! Weather, a winter weather advisory remains in effect for the Northern Virginia area until 12pm Wednesday January 28. Tonight’s forecast will be a mix of freezing precipitation early in the evening, which will change over to freezing rain overnight as the temperatures drop, according to Weather.com.
An area of low pressure will bring a stronger system consisting of more snow, sleet, and freezing rain and the lows will be near 25˚ F (temperatures are expected to be lower further west). The snow accumulations are expected to be over 2-4 inches and will remain mainly snow in the evening hours, according to Yahoo! Weather.
It is strongly advised everyone drives carefully tonight. The roads will be hazardous as visibility is limited. The roads are expected to freeze overnight, especially further west, where there will likely be more snow and ice accumulations.
Delays and cancellations for George Mason students and professors tomorrow have not yet been determined.
