Hispanic Heritage Month Continues to Bust a Beat

By Connect2Mason Information Director Miguel Perez

Mason continues to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month this week. Salsations: Latin Night IX and Que Bonita Bandera (what a pretty flag): Latin Party will both be held Friday, Oct. 3 at 9 and 10 p.m. respectively.

Salsations is a comedy show determined to “crush the stereotypes of our Latino culture through laughter.” Salsations will take place in the Johnson Center Atrium.

Que Bonita Bandera is “the official Latin Night IX after party,” organized by the Hispanic Student Association. This party will feature a live DJ and will take place at the Johnson Center’s Bistro.

Admission to Salsations is free, but there is a five dollar cover charge for Que Bonita Bandera.

Other Hispanic Heritage Month events include:

  • The Spanish Spelling Bee, 7:30 p.m. in Johnson Center Room B (Oct. 8)
  • The HSA Cena Series: a display of traditional Latino dishes, 7:00 p.m. at the Johnson Center Bistro (Oct. 14)

Call the Program Board (703- 993-2925) or the Office of Diversity Programs & Services (703-993-2700) for more information.
