Network Services Down Due to Planned Outage
By Connect Mason Reporter Rachael Dickson
Numerous network services will be unavailable in certain areas in and outside of the main Fairfax campus, due to a planned power outage in Thompson Hall, on Sunday, April 13.
The power outage, lasting from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will take place in order to replace a faulty circuit breaker in the Data Center.
An ITU alert sent out on the topic to the Mason community on March 10 said that Network Services will be unavailable for part of this period in most of the buildings on the north side of the Fairfax campus, and several locations off the main Fairfax campus, including the University Townhouses, Commerce I and II, Hemlock Overlook and the Ras Al Khaimah Campus.
At this time, several applications will be unavailable, including the Mason website, Banner, Mason e-mail, Housing, IronPort Quarantine, the Library Databases, WebCT 4.1, WGMU Radio and the wireless network access.
The ITU Support Center will post notification of system restoral on its Alerts page when the Mason website is restored.
