Tuesday, Feb. 28
Teach Me How to Wind

What it is: This high-energy Caribbean dance workshop will teach attendees both the steps and the history behind them.

Why it’s our pick: This event should prove to be both fun and great exercise.  Fans of dance or Caribbean culture will probably not want to miss it.

Where: Johnson Center Dewberry Hall, 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 29
Scarred Justice

What it is: Film producer, writer, and activist Judy Richardson will be at Mason to discuss her 2009 documentary Scarred Justice: The Orangeburg Massacre of 1968, which sheds light on the killing of three black students at South Carolina State College.

Why it’s our pick: This tragedy of the civil rights era deserves more historical attention, and what better way to learn than from the producer of a documentary about it?

Where: Johnson Center Cinema, 7:30– 9 p.m.

Thursday, March 1
Liberty in North Korea People's Tour

What it is: LiNK (Liberty in North Korea), an organization seeking to raise awareness of the human rights crisis in North Korea, will be showing the documentary The People's Crisis at Mason as part of The People's Tour.

Why it’s our pick: This event will provide education and awareness of the the crisis facing the North Korean people, which is the first step to solving the problem.

Where: Johnson Center Dewberry Hall, 7:30 – 8:45 p.m.

Thursday, March 1
Gbay

What it is:  Gbay is an annual student auction to benefit scholarship funds.  Avariety of items will be up for bid including movie tickets, sports memorabilia, and more.

Why it’s our pick:  Gbay is always one of the big events during the first half of the spring semester, come out to support a good cause and the opportunity to bid on cool stuff!

Where: Johnson Center Dewberry Hall, 8 – 11 p.m.

Friday, March 2
Battle of the Bands

What it is: Are you ready to rock?  Mason student bands will be competing for a cash prize and the chance to perform at Mason Day on April 27.

Why it’s our pick: This isn't Rock Band, this is real deal. The Battle of the Bands should prove to be a  great showcase of student talent.

Where: The Hub (SUB II) Ballroom, 8 p.m.
