Tuesday, April 17
Prince William Campus Cultural Fusion Day

What it is: The Prince William Campus will be hosting Cultural Fusion Day this week, featuring a Henna workshop, an Indian fashion display, Korean music and free Latin and Asian food.

Why it’s our pick: Celebrate the cultural diversity that Mason is so known for all while enjoying great, free food and entertaining music.  Prince William students probably won’t want to miss it.

Where: Bull Run Plaza, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Sustainability Film Festival

What it is: The Office of Sustainability is hosting a three day film festival this week featuring a different topic and film every day.  Tuesday’s topic will be water conservation and will include a screening of Flow, Wednesday will featuring Food, Inc. as the centerpiece of a conversation on food production and Thursday’s film, Gashole, will cover transportation and fuel.

Why it’s our pick: Free food will be provided, and attendees can win prizes based on the theme of each night’s documentary.  Check today@mason and the Student Involvement website for more Earth Week events!

Where: Northern Neck multipurpose room on Tuesday and Thursday, 8 – 10 p.m.; JC Bistro on Wednesday, 6 – 8 p.m.

Friday, April 20
Academic Survival for Mid-terms and Finals

What it is: Hosted by Counseling and Psychological Services, this workshop will teach students how to organize paper outlines, develop study plans, prepare for presentations and to effectively communicate with instructors and classmates.  It will also provide tips for surviving late-semester stress.

Why it’s our pick: The end of the semester can be an overwhelming time for everyone: work piles up and deadlines loom.  This seminar should give attendees the tools they need to stay ahead of the stress.

Where: SUB I room 3129, 10:30 – 11:45 a.m.

International Week Closing Event: Tastes and Sounds from Around the World

What it is: Closing out this International Week in style, this dinner and dance will serve up plenty of entertaining performances and delicious international food.  Student tickets can be purchased for $5 from the Center for the Arts box office with Mason ID--get yours while you can.

Why it’s our pick: Now in its thirty-second year, International Week provides a series of exciting events that showcase the various cultures that make up the Mason student body.  Check out iweek.gmu.edu for more information about International Week and a calendar of events.

Where: JC Dewberry Hall, 7– 10 p.m.

Saturday, April 21
Intramural Battleship Tournament

What it is: The Aquatic and Fitness Center is holding a different kind of intramural sporting event this weekend, battleship!  Students can register teams of up to 5, and then compete to sink each other’s boats using buckets of water.  The last boat standing will be the winner.  Watch this video for more information.

Why it’s our pick: This event should be both great fun and unique.  Teams can register online at recsports.gmu.edu up until Wednesday, April 18.  Minimum allowed team size is 4, and maximum is 5.  Teams must have at least one female member to be eligible to participate.

Where: Aquatic and Fitness Center Recreational Pool, 7 p.m.
