Police Headquarters Fire Monitoring System Down
By Connect2Mason Breaking News Director Matt Todd
Mason Alerts has issued an Information Advisory e-mail letting students, faculty, and staff know that the fire monitoring system at the University Police headquarters at Mason is currently down.
The e-mail reads:
"Attention Faculty, Staff and Students,
The Fire Alarm monitoring system at University Police headquarters is out of service until further notice. The actual fire alarm system in all buildings continues to operate normally. If the fire alarm sounds in your campus building immediately evacuate and dial 911 to report the alarm."
Normally, Mason Police would know when a fire alarm goes off on campus before anyone has the opportunity to call it in. The notification was sent out approximately at 5 p.m., and as of 10:30 p.m., Mar. 2, the system is currently still down.
