New dining options to come to Prince William campus
New dining options will be brought to George Mason University’s Prince William campus in an effort to expand the satellite campus .
Three franchise restaurants—Subway, Zabb Thai, and Wings, Pizza-N-Things—will be coming to Beacon Hall, a multi-use building that will feature graduate apartments upstairs.
The Subway will be a full-service restaurant, serving all menu items for custom sub sandwiches. Zabb Thai will feature a range of Thai food including appetizers, soups, salads, entrée dishes and desserts. Wings, Pizza-N-Things will feature, you guessed it, wings, pizza and even burgers.
Mark Kraner, executive director of campus retail operations, said the options are aimed to meet the wants of the campus and the surrounding community.
“Over the last few years, focus groups and surveys were done of the Prince William community to determine the desires for service,” Kraner said. “We [Auxiliary Services] shared the information with Gilbane [the developer] and the leasing company.”
Gilbane worked with the leasing company to find restaurants to rent the space in Beacon Hall.
According to Kraner, neither meal plan swipes nor Mason Money will be accepted at these new restaurants. However, negotiations to allow these forms of payment will continue over the summer.
“I think it is great that a mix of services will be available on the campus and the surrounding area,” Kraner said referring to Beacon Hall.
Kraner estimated that the new dining options would be open by August of this year.
