Mason fighting illegal downloads
The George Mason University’s Copyright Resources Office is fighting an ongoing battle against illegal downloading on campus. The office uses internet bots to locate students who download from piracy websites through Mason computers and networks. Students who are discovered are not immediately punished, but go through a three-strike system, which if exhausted until the end, sends the student to the Office of Judicial Affairs.
Downloading music, movies or television shows illegally is not only a federal offense, but a violation of Mason’s honor code and the Responsible Use of Computing policy.
