Mason English instructor overcomes struggle with blindness

One George Mason University English professor teaches that poetry is about sound more than sight -- a lesson not unlike his daily life.

Because Professor Andy Cooper is blind.

Cooper has been teaching for 27 years and has been blind for 21 of those years after suffering complications with Type 1 diabetes.  After initally thinking his loss of sight would end his teaching career, Cooper has found ways to make it work.
