Haunted Hanover spooks students

The annual Haunted Hanover tour left Mason students screaming in terror Thursday.

The annual tour had more impressive costumes and decorations this year than in previous years, said several resident advisers.

Once inside Hanover, students would crawl under tables, walk through paper hanging from ceilings and doorways, and find themselves suddenly confronted by a woman in chains or a doctor holding a butcher knife covered in blood. The RAs acting as ghouls and demons would follow, and trap and corner students through the haunted maze.

“The decorations, they took it to the next level this year,” said Morgan Paugh, an RA at Eastern Shore. “They fixed a lot of problems from last year.”

Roschni Nair, a junior at Mason, commented at the end of the tour that she “thought it [the Haunted Hanover tour] was very interesting, the tour guides were awesome—they were really enthusiastic, it got me really into it. I liked how interactive it was.”

At the end of the tour, there was an assortment of sweets, hot chocolate and hot apple cider waiting for students.

The event was sponsored by Housing & Residence Life and was intended to double as a canned food drive, a detail accidentally left out of the promotions for the tour this year. Because of this error it was not mandatory to donate canned food for entrance into the event. The cans that were collected, however, will go to local shelters.
