One hundred people took part in the Annual Victims’ Rights 5K Run and Walk this Tuesday.

First place in the event, which is held in collaboration with the Aimee Willard Endowment Scholarship Fund, went to Chris Kain, who finished with a time of 16:04.43.

Aimee Willard, a former George Mason University student athlete, was raped and killed on June 20, 1996 on the Blue Route in Philadelphia. The National Crime Victims’ Rights Week sponsors the run to raise money and awareness. All of the proceeds go to the Rape Aggression Defense program and Sexual Assault Services Victims of Violence fund.

Intercollegiate Athletics and Sexual Assault Services additionally sponsored the event, which is in its fourteenth year.
