Games of the Week

Riding a three-game winning streak, the Mason men's basketball team traveled to Boston, Mass. with the intent to push their streak to four. However, the Northeastern Huskies had other plans.

In a mostly dominating performance, the Huskies trounced the Patriots 71-51 on Sunday night to move to 8-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Women's basketball falls to James Madison, 71-55 in lopsided home loss

Despite putting in an impressive first half display and registering 21 bench points on the night, the George Mason University women’s basketball team suffered a lopsided home loss, falling 71-55 to Colonial Athletic Association rival James Madison University.

Senior guard Rahneeka Saunders was the only player who scored in double figures for the Patriots (6-11, 1-5 CAA), registering 14 points and eight rebounds. Saunders was supported by reserves junior Janaa Pickard and senior Melissa Collier, who each scored nine points.

Wright's 24 points helps Mason men's basketball topple second-ranked Towson

The Mason men's basketball team toppled the Colonial Athletic Association second-ranked Towson University Tigers, 77-67 Wednesday night in Towson, Md.

Lady Patriots open three-game home stand with 60-51 loss to Northeastern Huskies

It was a frigid night outside and inside the Patriot Center on Tuesday night, as the Patriots went cold and fell to the Northeastern University Huskies, 60-51.

The Patriots (6-10,1-4) were off to a blistering start, capitalizing on early jumpers thanks to weaknesses in the Huskies 2-3 zone. Senior guard Rahneeka Saunders, who finished with 17 points and five assists, led Mason to a 15-8 lead after six minutes of play.

However, the Huskies (11-6, 4-2) quickly used their size advantage down low and fought back to tie the game just three minutes later.

[PREVIEW] Mason travels to Towson to face the surprising second-ranked Tigers

When the official 2012-2013 game schedule was announced before the start of the season, the Towson matchup seemed like an easy win and a game that the George Mason University men’s basketball team would surely take lightly. After all, the Tigers have been abysmal over the past few seasons, finishing in the cellar of the Colonial Athletic Association. At this point in the season, however, the Tigers are 10-10, 5-2 in conference competition and ranked in the CAA. When Mason travels to face the Tigers Wednesday night at 7 p.m. they need to take them seriously.
