Women's volleyball falls to Temple, 3-1 in Patriot Invitational Saturday

The George Mason University women’s volleyball team wrapped up the Patriot Invitational Saturday night with a 3-1 loss to the Temple Owls in four sets.  It was their fourth game in the two-day tournament hosted by the Patriots at the RAC.

Welcome to the A-10: Fall 2013 cross country and volleyball preview

The coaches have voted and more preseason polls have been released by the Atlantic 10 conference. As to be expected for newcomers in a conference, it’ll be a tough uphill climb for the Patriots in the Fall.

In their inaugural season of competition, the women’s volleyball team was predicted to finish seventh overall, earning a mere 26 points. The nine A-10 head coaches unanimously selected the defending champion Dayton Flyers to repeat as the A-10 champions.

Atlantic 10 conference announces men's basketball national TV schedule

This morning, the Atlantic 10 conference announced the men's basketball national television schedule. Mason will play on a variety of national TV outlets during the 2013-2014 season, including appearances on CBS Sports Network, NBC Sports Network and ESPNU for the Diamond Head Classic.

The George Mason University men’s soccer team defended last year’s DC  Cup title by defeating Howard University and American University this weekend at George Mason Stadium. It was the fourth-straight title for the Patriots in the annual competition.

Mason men's soccer hosts annual DC College Cup this weekend

This weekend, August 30-September 1, George Mason University will host the 13th edition of the D.C. College Cup, an annual men’s soccer tournament involving DC-area teams. Along with Mason, the tournament features Howard University, George Washington University and American University.

The tournament opens on Friday, when the George Washington Colonials face the American Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Following the conclusion of that game, the Patriots will open their play against the Howard Bison at 7:30 p.m. in a rematch from 2011, when the Patriots came on top 9-0.

Meanwhile, the polarizing topic hasn't made it passed the early stages of planning.

Mason mourns the passing of Patrick Sibley

The George Mason University community is mourning the loss of Patrick Sibley, 21, who tragically lost his life on the morning of Sunday, August 18 in a metro train-related accident.

Sibley was set to start his senior year and was an integrative studies major with a concentration in advertising, and a powerful middle blocker on the men’s volleyball team. Sibley earned All-Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association first team honors after his 2013 season.
