The desk with the intimidating stacks of  paperwork is there, as is the comfortable chair and the desktop computer. The office is no different than the typical one in which a Mason employee would spend an entire workday.

Mason Athletics and Mason Cable Network to begin live stream game coverage

Mason Cable Network and Mason’s athletic department reached an agreement to begin streaming live broadcasts of all home athletic games beginning in October with men’s and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball. The first official collaborative broadcast will be on Oct. 4 when Mason’s women’s volleyball team plays host to Saint Louis University. 

Washington Wizards set to hold training camp at Patriot Center

 

The Washington Wizards will be hosting their annual training camp at the Patriot Center on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University from Saturday, Sept. 28 to Wednesday, Oct. 2. The training camp will consist of two-a-day practices from 11 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. daily.

For most kids growing up, you learn to crawl before you learn to walk. Mason senior Ryan Ellis, meanwhile, took to four wheels before he took to two feet.

“When most kids were sleeping with teddy bears, I would sleep with toy cars and toy motorcycles,” Ellis said. “I used to crawl up to my Power Wheels and drive that around before I could actually walk. My whole life I have wanted to be a race car driver and nothing else.”

The George Mason University men’s soccer team played like a family Friday night during their 1-0 shutout victory over the Seton Hall Pirates. 

When they gathered around each other after the win that kept their undefeated season alive, the team yelled “family” on three.  The Patriots played every bit like a band of brothers during their dominating performance.

On Monday morning, the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission released a report detailing non-academic services and costs of higher education public institutions in Virginia.

The report addressed a number of issues facing the current landscape of college athletics, specifically in the state, including funding, student fees and revenue generation of basketball and football programs.
