The George Mason chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi will host the Credit Abuse Resistance Education Program tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in the Johnson Center meeting room F. The event’s organizers hope to draw students, parents and Mason staff.

Event presenters will discuss responsible financial planning, budgeting and consumer credit information.

Texting-induced Injuries on the Rise

(U-WIRE) BOSTON - One in five Britons has suffered an injury while simultaneously walking and text messaging in the last year, according to a British study. However, SMS snafus are also popping up stateside on sidewalks and behind the wheel.

Last week, a British information directory launched a pilot project to protect people who were texting while walking by installing bumper guards on lampposts.

The large white bumper guards call attention to the text-and-transportation problem that causes injuries ranging from bruises to broken noses, said Lucy Abell, spokeswoman for Living Streets, a British charity that focuses on reducing traffic and keeping the streets clean and safe.

Model U.N. Wins Summit

During a weekend filled with debates, George Mason University’s government class, Model United Nations, took on students from more than 20 universities at the National University Model Arab League Summit. The event, celebrating 25 years, was held at the Washington Hilton during the weekend of March 28.

The final event in support of concealed weapons on campus, hosted by the George Mason University College Republicans, assisted by Mason’s Students For Concealed Carry on Campus and Shawn Deehan, took place in the Johnson Center last Thursday.

This was the last event held on campus to represent those who support a Mason student’s right to carry a concealed weapon and who argue for less restricting gun laws in the national gun debate.

Gun Opponents Argue “With Emotion”

The College Republicans sponsored a series of events regarding concealed weapons on campus. The second event, held Wednesday, April 2 in the Johnson Center, presented noted author and a contributor to the national gun debate, Dr. John Lott, who has a Ph.D. in economics.
