No Swine Flu at Mason

According to George Mason University Press Secretary Dan Walsch, the reported case of Swine Flu was misdiagnosed by the staff member's physician. This means, there has never been a case of H1N1 influenza at Mason.

The Environmental Health & Safety Office has sent the following notice the evening of Wednesday, May 27:

Yesterday, George Mason University announced a case of H1N1 influenza on the Fairfax campus. Upon further investigation, we are relieved to
announce that there is no confirmed case of H1N1 influenza on any Mason
campus at this time.

A George Mason University staff member has been diagnosed with H1N1 Influenza, also known as Swine Flu, the University Media and Public Relations office confirmed. An initial e-alert was sent by the Environmental Health and Safety Office Tuesday, May 26.

George Mason University launched a new website today, which can be seen at http://www.gmu.edu. The site was redesigned by Web Communications and displays content from a number of Mason departments and offices.

The College of Visual Performing is developing several of its departments into schools. Starting this fall, the departments of music, art and visual technology, and dance will become schools of music, art and dance.

Visa Credit Cannot Be Used for Tuition, Fees

Starting Aug. 31, the University will no longer accept Visa credit cards for payment of tuition and fees. Visas will still be accepted at other locations such as the bookstore and dining facilities.

Tuition Set for 2009-2010 Academic Year

At the May 6th meeting of the Board of Visitors, the 2009-2010 tuition increase was proposed and approved:
In-state/out-of-state undergraduate tuition: increased by 6.8 percent
In-state graduate tuition: increased by 9.8 percent
Out-of-state graduate tuition: increased by 7.3 percent
In-state law school tuition: increased 9.7 percent
Out-of-state law school tuition: increased 7.1 percent

'Innovations' Event Showcases Projects

The showcase, 2009 Innovations in Teaching and Learning Symposium, was held in Dewberry Hall and exhibited a wide range of university student and faculty research and creations, many of which are placing the university among leading research institutions.
