Mason men's soccer season ends with loss in second round of NCAA Tournament
|Mason men’s soccer team finished its run in the NCAA tournament, as the Patriots lost 1-0 to the University of New Mexico in the second round on Sunday night. A late goal by junior midfielder James Rogers in the 83rd minute materialized the dominance the Lobos exerted throughout the game.

|On Thursday night, Mason men’s soccer team survived the roulette of penalties for the second time in its last four games to defeat a strong College of William and Mary side in the first round of the NCAA tournament. With the teams locked at 2-2 after 110 minutes of play, it was the composure and accuracy of Julio Arjona, Zach Herstek, Wes Sever and Chase Miller from the penalty spot, as well as a pair of saves by Steffen Kraus in the frame of the goal, that made the difference and sent the Patriots through.

|The Mason men’s basketball team travels to New Rochelle, NY to take on Iona College at 2 p.m. today at Hynes Athletics Center. The Gaels and Patriots (4-0) meet for the third time in program history, with Mason having won both previous meetings in a home-and-home series in 2003 and 2004.

|After defeating Virginia Commonwealth University in a dramatic 3-2 overtime win to advance to the final game of the Atlantic 10 Championship, and defeating St. Louis for the title, Mason men’s soccer team will now face another former conference rival – the College of William and Mary – in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Soccer Championship.

|The Mason women’s basketball team will take on Towson at 4:30 p.m. at the Patriot Center.
Coming off of an 82-64 win over Utah Valley in the team’s home opener, the Patriots (2-1) will look to keep a two-game winning streak alive against the Tigers (1-2).
Senior Janaa Pickard set a new Patriot Center record against Utah Valley, recording 21 points and 21 rebounds in her first double-double of the season. Sophomore Taylor Brown is currently leading the Patriots with 17 points per game, while Pickard is averaging 15 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Marko Gujanicic recorded his second double-double in as many games as a starter against UNI on Saturday and is projected to get the starting spot in tonight’s matchup. Sherrod Wright leads Mason in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game, while Gujanicic leads the team in rebounding, averaging 8.3 per game.
Mason men's basketball defeats Northern Iowa 76-70
|The Mason men’s basketball team defeated Northern Iowa 76-70 at home on Saturday at the Patriot Center. Sophomore Marko Gujanicic recorded his second double-double in two straight games as a starter, while Sherrod Wright tallied 23 points and Patrick Holloway, who started in place of injured point guard Bryon Allen, ended with 11 points respectively.

Mason men's soccer defeats VCU in overtime to advance to the A-10 Championship game
|The Mason men’s soccer team defeated in-state rival Virginia Commonwealth University 3-2 on Friday night and became the first team to represent George Mason University in a championship game since its move to the Atlantic-10 conference.
Timi Mulgrew sealed the win with a header off a Zach Herstek cross only 34 seconds into the first overtime period. Herstek had a goal for himself in the 27th minute to bring Mason back to level terms after Dennis Castillo had capitalized on a poor play by the Patriots’ defense to give VCU the early lead.
